An AgroPhilatelic Adventure across the Klang Valley

The day started early enough but it was only 3 hardcore collectors at the General Post Office. Most are making their way down to the Malaysian Agriculture Horticulture & Agrotourism (MAHA) Exhibition 2024.

Stocks were limited as they were diverted to MAHA 2024. A total of 50 blank covers were available but more than sufficient empty folders and stamps.

The next stop is Universiti Putra Malaysia UPM Serdang Post Office. This is the nearest post office and also a Philatelic Bureau Branch with the special cancellation UPM.

The next stop is MAHA 2024.

Today was a surprising FREE parking (and I found out it was announce that the parking will be FREE from today onwards!). I managed to park within walking distance. I arrived at the site just as the loudspeakers announced that the Honourable Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim, has launched the MAHA 2024 stamps by Pos Malaysia and that it is available for sale outside (well Hall B external tents…).

Here is the stage after the opening ceremony.

Walk along the road to Hall B, you will see the prominent Pos Malaysia tent!

Here is the video of Pos Malaysia Booth:

Pos Malaysia staff from KL GPO and Philatelic Bureau were there. They have prepared Full Folder sets (in addition to those that you can make your own). This is how the folder sets look like with the MAEPS Serdang cancellation.

This will be on sale until the end of the MAHA 2024 exhibition or while stocks last.

Coincidentally and luckily, the designer of the stamps MIMESIS Sdn Bhd was there to buy the stamps too after their launching earlier…. Here is En Aiman MD, the Chief Creative Officer of MIMESIS! Now we can put a face to the company as many other designers do! Kudos to a nice pair of stamps (and also the Johor Causeway Joint Stamp Issue between Malaysia and Singapore)!

He happily agreed to autograph the collectors covers on site for those who were around. It is indeed an honour to be able to meet!

Hopefully he can make an appearance during one of his stamp design sale dates in KL GPO.

It was then off to the Petaling Jaya Community Library for the final cancellation.

PSM Stamp Fair and the Pos Malaysia counter:

Here is the list:

KL GPO – on the old MAHA Exhibition stamp as MAHA started in KL

MAHA MAEPS Serdang – on the current MAHA Exhibition stamp as it is today’s commemoration

UPM Serdang – the actual post office in MAEPS Serdang are

Perpustakaan Komuniti PJ – a special cancellation provided for the PSM Stamp Fair to promote MAHA 2024 too!

Here is the adventure in video clips:

Thank you all for the support to make this project possible.

See you again in MAHA 2024 for the Hari Malaysia Day stamps on 16 September 2024!

For those who cannot come to MAHA 2024, the products will be on sale in various post offices nationwide (plus the Philatelic Bureau HQ) on 17 September 2024!

Happy Malaysia Day!
