29 – 31 March 2019: Fournation Stamp Exhibition Kuala Lumpur

29 – 31 March 2019: Fournation Stamp Exhibition Kuala Lumpur

Finally, I received the confirmation from Pos Malaysia that the Fournation Stamp Exhibition will be held in Kuala Lumpur in the Kuala Lumpur General Post Office.

The event will be held in the Main Lobby (Stamp Dealers), Stamp Gallery of the Philatelic Bureau Headquarters (Pos Malaysia sales) and Dewan Sri Pos (Stamp Exhibition).

The event will be held from 29 – 31 March 2019 from 09:00 am to 05:00 pm.

There will be a special Overprint Miniature Sheet (details will be released later) on 29 March 2019. Heard some loud buzz today from many parties that 30 March might see something too. Hmmm… the suspense if building.

PSM is also making the envelopes for the event.

For those who are keen to take part, contact: filateli@pos.com.my.

Homework: Prepare your Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia stamps! There has been a buzz that a fifth country was invited! Hmmm…

Anyway, I have not received any news of those who confirmed attendance. Perhaps if any of our foreign readers from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia who might know something can provide the information?

See you there!

Pangolin and Philately (World Animal Day 2018)

Pangolin and Philately (World Animal Day 2018)

This year, the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation (IBEC), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, will host an open day with a special exhibition (and postcard) on Pangolins!

Trivia: Did you know that Sarawak was the first in the world to feature a Pangolin on a stamp in 1950? Which is the stamp???

Come on over from 04 to 05 October 2018 to the exhibition from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm. The exhibition showcases the diversity of the world’s pangolins via a series of images, and includes a collection of philatelic products (including postage stamps, first-day-covers, maximum cards and postally used covers).

To date, as many as 50 countries and postal authorities have issued stamps featuring the pangolin (including Bangladesh, Belgian Congo, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroun, Central African Republic, Congo (Republic), Equatorial Guinea, French West Africa, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea (Republic), Guinea-Bissau, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Macao, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nevis, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Rio Muni, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sarawak, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Swaziland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, United Nations-Geneva, United Nations-Vienna, Vietnam, North Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe).

Another trivia: Did you also know that last year’s amphibian exhibition (World Animal Day 2017) managed to secure the Guinness World Record? Read on: https://myfdc.me/2018/08/17/congratulations-to-a-guinness-record/

myfdc would like to thank Dr Indraneil Das and the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation for the information on this year’s IBEC Open Day. Wishing the event a great success!

By the way, did I mention there is a limited edition postcard for visitors? What are you waiting for? Make time for the event.
