02 April 1997: 50 Years of Aviation in Malaysia

This issue celebrates 50 Years of Malaysia Airlines. Malaysia Airlines operates out of Subang and Kelana Jaya even though the corporate head office is in Kuala Lumpur.

This FDC was cancelled in Subang Airport which is now called Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah.

This FDC was cancelled in Kelana Jaya.

23 August 1997: International Year of the Reef ’97

I wanted the feature the first pewter FDC issued jointly by Pos Malaysia and Royal Selangor.

This is another stamp booklet cover cancelled in Kuala Lumpur.

09 September 1997: 50 Years of Organised Philately

This FDC was cancelled in Shah Alam. There is also a Jubli Emas PSM in MALPEX ’97 Kuala Lumpur cancellation. Both cancellations are to signify the evolution of the Selangor Stamp Club to Persatuan Setem Malaysia. Technically the association was in Kuala Lumpur, however Kuala Lumpur was previously part of Selangor. In addition, there is also a MALPEX ’97 cachet.

This is the same format however on the PSM Golden Anniversary cover.

This FDC was cancelled in Kuala Lumpur.

01 December 1997: Stamp Week ’97 Protected Wildlife

This FDC was cancelled in Kuala Lumpur along with the Stamp Week ’97 cachet. The cover was signed by Teh Yew Kiang in English and Chinese on the day of issue.

This is NOT a miniature sheet. However it is of interest as Southern Colour Print issued this souvenir sheet specially for the stamp week. This souvenir cover was cancelled with the Stamp Week ’97 cachet.

15 December 1997: INDEPEX ’97

This is an overprinted cover from PSM cancelled with the INDEPEX ’97 cachet. There are New Delhi first day of exhibition cancellation and the exhibition cachet from India Post on the same cover.
