Logistics for 20 January 2024: 150 Years Anniversary of Taiping

Right I guess the excitement has built up even more now that the poster and price list from Pos Malaysia has been released.

The stamp issue will comprise of:

  1. 30 sen stamp: Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut)
  2. 50 sen stamp: Taiping Market (Pasar Besar Taiping)
  3. RM 1.50 stamp: Perak Botanical Garden (Taman Botani Perak)
  4.  RM 5.00 Miniature Sheet: Taiping Lake Garden (Taman Tasik Taiping)
  5.  RM 6.00 empty folder
  6.  50 sen blank envelope

Here are some logistics. Note that there are some road diversions and closures.

The stamps and cancellation will only be released to the public after the launch event. The Pos Malaysia booth where the products will be on sale is at the Taiping Heritage Square (Dataran Warisan Taiping). Check out the video below to see where it is.

The event starts at about 10:00 am and is expected to be over by noon. Thus it makes sense to organise your trip around noon. You might want to visit the 150 Years Taiping Stamp Exhibition first – check out the video below.

Meanwhile for the ticket collectors, you can buy the same day tickets for the Taiping Botanical Garden (Taman Botani Taiping) and a ticket up Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut), though the latter I am not sure anymore as the last time I went up, I had a ticket for the ride!
