It was a day that Jit Sin alumnus has been waiting for (and of course the long term collectors), the release of the centenary stamps of Jit Sin school.
The day started early for many. Here are some inputs from various places of interest.
1. Penang General Post Office
The queue was light at the start of the day, about 26 persons. The empty folders were limited to only 1 per person and were sold out by 10:00 am.
2. Bukit Mertajam Post Office
This is the main area of action as the actual post office cancellation is from Bukit Mertajam where Jit Sin School is located.
The crowd was steady and strong throughout the day until closing time.
With additional stocks from the HQ, the Bukit Mertajam Post Office could sustain the sales with about 20 empty folders left by the end of the day.
Meanwhile in the Jit Sin Independent Secondary School, the souvenir sets in bags were being distributed. These sets are sold at RM 120 each (click the link for details) and includes special postcards. The FDCs in the souvenir sets come with the SODA special “Jit Sin School Pulau Pinang” cancellation.
In addition, a purchase of stamp sheets and MS at RM 20 will also be entitle to a special souvenir envelope. The design is great. It has sufficient space nicely to make a composite FDC.
Special school postcards were also on sale at RM 15 a set.
3. Kuala Lumpur Philatelic Bureau
The Philatelic Bureau was quite with about 25 persons when the post office opened. Mr Gan Soon Bing from World Communications Network Resources came to autograph.
The crowd thinned out by about 10:00 am.
myfdc would like to recognise and thank Mr KH Chung and My KH Ng for the additional reporting in order to give a better picture of what transpired today.
Feel free to send in your local report. It gives a holistic story to what is actually transpiring.
Wishing Jit Sin School many new sunrise and success!
