It seems to be a trend for schools to start issuing Personalised Stamps (Setem Ku) to commemorate their centenary. This Saturday, 16 March 2019, there will be a soft launch of the Chong Hwa Independent High School Kuala Lumpur Centenary stamps.
Initially this was to be an official stamp issue. However, it dropped out from the stamp schedule to become a Personalised Stamp issue.
The folder set will be offered at RM 200 per set. Readers might want to order directly as it is too hefty for me to order on behalf.
- 1 envelope
- 4 stamp designs
- 4 types of postcards
- 1 Cinderella Stamp (I am still unclear what this means, it was explain by the school)
- 2 commemorative envelopes (affixed with stamps)
- 1 brochure (introduction of Chong Hwa’s history and design concept)
There will be 8,000 sets produced. There will be a private commemorative cachet.
Orders are accepted from 16 March 2019 onwards. No information on the soft launch time was given. Thus far, there has not been any online forms. I will keep you posted.
Chong Hwa Independent High School is located at Jalan Saint Thomas, off Jalan Ipoh, 51100 Kuala Lumpur.
The set will be available for sale on 21 March 2019 (similar date to the original Pos Malaysia scheduled stamp issue) in Stadium Merdeka from 05:00 pm. There is a performance at 07:00 pm with an entrance ticket of RM 30.
Thus far there has not been any images.
I think the difficulty is that the Mandarin language schools usually do a promotion in Mandarin as the main buyers are expected to be the students, alumni and parents. I believe if they are broad enough, the large segment of the philatelic market can be tapped with an international language promotion such as English.
