A Tour of Melaka

The day started really slow. When the counters were opened, it was only a handful of regulars.

I decided to skip the MATTA Fair in PWTC as there was no longer any philatelic event. The designer informed me that the Sarawak Tourism Bureau made their own folder designs for patrons of the Sarawak Tourism Booths. Did anyone manage to check them out?

Here is Mr KY Lim autographing the stamp products.

So it was a tour of Melaka for me!

The drive was smooth and scorching hot. The first stop was the General Post Office. Lim Stamp was busy with his stall inside the main foyer selling old FDCs and mish-mash of stamps and MS. Today’s envelopes and MS were sold out early in the morning. The stamps were still available. This was in stark contrast to the low uptake in Kuala Lumpur.

The next stop was the historic centre of Melaka.

Did you know the Jalan Laksamana Post Office used to be the General Post Office?

The situation was the same here, all the products were sold out early. There were a few concordanist who came in early. Jalan Laksamana is the closest Post Office to the Melaka River Cruise station as well as the Maritime Museum.

First was the rest stop for the famous Melaka Chicken Rice Balls with of course chicken! Wash that down at the Clock Tower Cendol stall is an ideal way to cool down in the perpetual hot Melaka.

The Melaka River Cruise is located a short walk away from the cendol stall. I prefer to walk by the side of the Melaka River. The river is continually spruced up. It looks significantly cleaner.

The River Cruise office was already visited 3 times by concordanists. This is what they were looking for.

The condition of the cachet is really bad. It is basically disintegrated. Anyway, time to move to the Maritime Museum featuring a replica of Flor de la Mar. The museum was officiated on 13 June 1994 by Dr Mahathir Mohamed!

The last stop was in Merlimau. Merlimau has been a regular stops there few years due to a few concordant designs. This time it is the Demang Abdul Ghani Gallery located about 2 minutes from the Merlimau Post Office.

It is really worth visiting. The designs are so intricate that it is mind boggling! Looking just at the exterior will give you a hint of the magnificent design!

Concordancy is fun. Care to join the next tour?

Meanwhile, what are you waiting for? Visit Melaka 2019!
