If you have received your Tourist Destinations (Melaka and Sarawak) Standing Order Deposit Account (SODA) order, you would have seen at the bottom of the statement that the next stamp issue will be on 30 March 2019 with the theme 150 Years of Sarawak Stamps. Here is the extract:
The first Sarawak stamp was used since 01 March 1869. The stamp featured a portrait of Sir James Brooke, Rajah of Sarawak. The four corners of the original stamp has the alphabets: JBRS – short for James Brooke Rajah Sarawak!
Thus this year marks the 150 years since the first stamp of Sarawak was issued!
Back to the original question that I received from readers who have SODA account; will the stamp be issued on 30 March 2019? I received confirmation that the date of issue will be moved to a later date and an official announcement will be made.
