Today the counter opened a bit later at 09:00 am. There was not many who came. In fact some regulars did not turn up and when they were called, they did not know about the event!
The Fournation Overprint Miniature Sheet had a limit of 10 Miniature Sheets per person.
This was solved by multiple queues as very few collectors turned up. Soon everyone bought what they wanted.
A Fournation Stamp Exhibition 2019 Personalised Stamp Sheetlet (Setem Ku) was offered at a 10 % discount at RM 18.00. It proved to be popular when the teachers saw them! I think the sign should be more prominent as many asked where to buy the Fournation Stamp Exhibition 2019 Setem Ku.
The Philatelic Society of Malaysia has a counter selling exhibition envelopes at RM 1.50 each. There are also bulletins and many other publications on sale. Eric Ng was manning the counter on opening bell at 09:00 am! The envelopes were selling like hot cakes!
Right, if you are interested to get the Fournation Stamp Exhibition Overprint Miniature Sheet, drop me a note at sky52200myfdc@gmail.com before 10:00 am or before it is sold out.
Meanwhile, the launch event was held at the foyer of Dewan Sri Pos. I soon found out why it was not conducted inside the Hall. Read on….
Here is Dato’ Anuar Bashah giving the welcoming speech. The philatelic associations of the four nations plus Brunei were in attendance.
Here is the ribbon cutting ceremony by the national representatives.
Imagine my surprise when I went into the exhibition hall! The whole exhibition hall was packed with frames! I had enough time to browse through the exhibits and saw some familiar names and learned more on the philatelic and postal history.
Note: Today’s stock of Overprint Miniature Sheets were sold out by about 10:00 am. Another batch will be on sale tomorrow at 09:00 am in the Philatelic Bureau. There were intermittent stock releases after 10:00 am but these lasted only minutes.
Meanwhile, here is the lobby where the dealers are doing brisk business. The cachet counter is at the far end to the left of the photo (near the backdrop with the phrase “A New Way Forward”).
Do you recognise the dealers?
There were an estimated 400 students and teachers this morning. Most of those I met were from Kedah.
Drop me an update when you are at the exhibition. We can keep everyone updated on the exhibition and the sales.
By the way: Ask the teachers about the RM 1.00 KESEF (KESEF are the schools’ stamp club supported by Pos Malaysia) postcards. Most of them are willing to sell to you the KESEF postcards. I guess useful for postcard collectors 🙂
