31 December 2020: The last day of 4 wheeled vehicles and pedestrian on the Penang Ferry

An occasion which caught the nation’s news is the cessation of the 4-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians on the Penang Ferry. It was not lost to the Penangites who were also spotted making commemorative personalised philatelic mementos.

The day started with the Penang side as the General Post Office carries the name Pulau Pinang.

The short 15 minutes ferry ride was not that easy as the vehicular queue was about an hour!

This is the departure from Penang Ferry Terminal (Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda).

Here is the arrival in Butterworth (Pengkalan Sultan Abdul Halim):

Clear photos are available of the journey for those who want to purchase.

Here is a video clip (about 18 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thi-rI58Jq4

Since the Butterworth Post Office has closed, the next nearest is the Bagan Luar Post Office.

With that the event was commemorated in our own personal way.
