While organising my items, I found the postcard that I wanted to write about on a little known unique post box. This post box is located in Gunung Mulu National Park. There are 2 boxes, one at the park headquarters and after a bit of searching, another is found inside the Deer Cave.
It is the first post box inside a UNESCO World Heritage Cave! The post box was installed way back in July 2017.
The second post box is installed in the Gunung Mulu National Park headquarters.
Here is a picture of a personal postcard processed through the Miri Mail Centre (Pusat Mel Miri) Sarawak on 26 February 2020.
Design copyright of the postcard: Dr Indraneil Das
The Malaysia Book of Records recognised this achievement on 14 March 2019. http://malaysiarecords.com.my/records/16972/FIRST-POST-BOX-IN-UNESCO-WORLD-HERITAGE-CAVE-
The Deer Cave entrance is famous for the profile of Abraham Lincoln which is also the cachet of the park. This cachet is not made by Pos Malaysia.
I want to record my appreciation to Dr Indraneil Das for the postcard. It certainly expanded the knowledge of the unique post boxes found in Malaysia. This was a rather unexpected and surprising find as I was not even aware of the existance.
Have you come across any other unique post boxes?
