Updates on the new issue 06 February 2020: Malaysia Calligraphy 2

The next issue as expected is Malaysian Calligraphy Series 2. The date of release is 06 February 2020.

The first series was issued on 28 June 2016 with the theme Noble Value.

The theme this time is Peace (Aman), Prosperity (Makmur) and Happiness (Bahagia). It is a really beautiful design.

The following are the products:

  1. 60 sen stamp: Malay calligraphy (Khat) in the shape of a flower
  2. 80 sen stamp: Indian calligraphy in the shape of a peacock
  3. RM 1.00 stamp: Chinese calligraphy in the shape of the word Fu and the Rat
  4. RM 3.00 Miniature Sheet which is a combination of all 3
  5. RM 6.00 empty folder
  6. 50 sen blank envelope

The design if read in conjunction with the original release date inside the SODA statement, was probably intended for the Lunar Chinese New Year of the Rat. It would have attracted more non-collectors if released at that time.

The designer is Mr KY Lim from Reign Associates.  I am curious who are the calligraphers? Perhaps Pos Malaysia will release further information.

What is your opinion: should this stamp issue be counted into the Malaysia Lunar New Year Series?

Note: There was a related Calligraphy issue which was themed Festive Greetings: https://myfdc.me/2017/03/27/next-issue-festive-greeting/
