Birds – Trains – Books and What to do on 03 June 2026!

31 May 2025 was not just the last day of the month but literally a day of the early collector catches the first birds! This is a reversal of roles for the bird or shall I say the Parrot.

If you intend to hop around the city both KL Sentral and Pasar Seni are convenient points. This time it was KL Sentral or the extension at the Muzium Negara Station MRT Laluan Sungai Buloh Kajang Line.

It is Exit B to Muzium Negara and a short walk to the back is the lesser know connecting bridge to the National Planetarium and Perdana Lake Gardens! I met a lot of locals and foreigners staring at the stairs to the connecting bridge and looking at their navigation map on their handphone unsure whether to proceed or not….

In less than 2000 steps, you will reach the KL Bird Park!

Collectors are real early risers as they fear the items are sold out or they are rushing to the next chop but today is rather an easy concordant FDC in Kuala Lumpur (good luck to the Penangites!).

Here is Pos Malaysia’s booth! They are always helpful and happy to see us!

Here are the regulars, yes regulars plus a few who came by out of curiosity or being sent by someone to help buy.

Ok, chop done, next Station….. KL Monorail on the other side of KL Sentral. So it is a short walk back and across Muzium Negara Station to KL Sentral and NU Sentral before reaching KL Monorail.

As the next stop is the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair in WTCKL (what we oldies know as Putra World Trade Centre!) is at PWTC Station along the LRT Ampang / Sri Petaling Line. See… at least the station still remember the original name of PWTC… how did they lose the “P” to become WTC???

The interchange station is another hub at Titiwangsa which is a massive Monorail – MRT – LRT interchange! If you know how to map your travel by rail it is quite fast and affordable, e.g. RM 10 for a day pass for locals. No traffic jam, no parking stress and pretty scenic tour of the city!

Finally! Pos Malaysia PBAKL (Pesta Buku Antarabangsa KL) booth! It is easy to find if you take the right turn as you come in the main entrance. I took the left turn! See why it is called the right turn?

Done for 31 May 2026!

So tomorrow, 03 June 2026 will see the balance of the states that return to work to start selling (today Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah were able to buy the product).

Happy Bird Hunting!
