28 November 2018: ETS MS Overprint for Thailand World Stamp Exhibition 2018

28 November 2018: ETS MS Overprint for Thailand World Stamp Exhibition 2018

Pos Malaysia will be represented by Philatelic Society of Malaysia (PSM) for the World Stamp Exhibiton in Bangkok, Thailand. The event is held in Royal Paragon Hall 1 – 3 in downtown Bangkok. It runs from 28 November 2018 until 03 December 2018. Thailand Post is providing an exhibition cachet and daily cancellations. These are the current image available and subjected to changes.

Pos Malaysia is expected to have the exhibition cachet to complement the Exhibition Overprint MS of the ETS issue.

PSM will be selling their own envelope. There is also a proposal to pre-sell the envelope during the Stamp Week 2018. Why not drop by and have a look during Stamp Week at the PSM booth?

Here is the image with the consent to share by PSM (copyright holder of the envelope design).

The overprint MS is also expected to be on sale by the International House of Stamps in the exhibition hall.

While Pos Malaysia has not provided information on the order forms for SODA, it has been a trend that Pos Malaysia offers the overprints AFTER the exhibitions.

Updated 12 November 2018:

Philatelic Society of Malaysia was selling the blank envelopes at RM 2.00 each at the Stamp Week 2018 in their counter in the Kuala Lumpur General Post Office.

Updated 26 November 2018:

If you are interested in the Thailand 2018 commemorative stamps, you can read them at the Thailand Post Stamp Catalogue (October – December 2018): http://www.mbookstore.com/book-read/10412 (pages 6 – 7).

Any readers who is visiting, I appreciate it if you can also send back news and maybe a few pictures for the readers.

I will not be attending.

The Royal Visit 2017

The Royal Visit 2017

The Royal Visit generated a number of places of interest for philately.

In the Klang Valley, a nice match would be KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport), where the Royal Airforce touched down. Here it is parked on the tarmac of KLIA on 03 November 2017.

Kuala Lumpur GPO would definitely be the postmark for the visit since it is the first place of visit. 2 other Philatelic Bureau branches of interest are Medan Tuanku (roughly translated as His Highness Place) and Putrajaya (Successful Prince). Combine it as Medan Tuanku with Putrajaya will get you His Highness Prince.

Not to be missed is the designer, Mr Shahrul Izhar. Here he is patiently autographing for all the collectors.

Here is the completed FDC set for Klang Valley:

Meanwhile further North, Perak was the next stop with 3 Philatelic Bureau branches of interest, i.e. Gerik (the nearest post office to Royal Belum), Taiping (War Cemetery) and Kuala Kangsar (Istana Iskandariah). A fellow concordant FDC collector has successfully completed this leg.

The next stop would be to Sarawak and Kuching GPO would be the best match as Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and Sarawak Cultural Village.

The final leg has started as the Royal Visit concludes in the Prince of Wales Island! Well, the island is now known as Pulau Pinang (Penang). The best matches are Pulau Pinang GPO and Butterworth Post Office (Five Power Defence Agreement / Royal Malaysian Air Force Base).

This pretty much sums up the places of Philatelic postmark interest for the Royal Visit.

Anyone interesting to sell or exchange Royal Visit FDCs with concordant postmarks? Feel free to contact me.

Meanwhile, many were hoping to find the 2012 type of printing error. Hmmm…..

Updated 28 March 2016: More Bouquet

Updated 28 March 2016: More Bouquet

It was rather slow today at the GPO.

Well, not wasting time, next stop…..Taman Ipoh!

image

This is the most concordant location as it means Ipoh Garden matching the subject of Garden Flowers. Ipoh is the capital of Perak. Suprisingly this time SODA members will get Kuala Kangsar rather than the traditional Ipoh for definitive stamps.

So the next stop is……Ipoh GPO!

image

The final stop is………..Kuala Kangsar since I am already up north.

image

There is also a Stamp and Philatelic Exhibition in the Kuala Kangsar Public Library. The exhibition runs from today until 31 March 2016. The main day is 26 March 2016. That would be a good day to drop by. Any dealers or collectors who wish to put up a booth on 26 March 2016 can contact: En Johari at 0175499743.

Apparently the 40 sen sheet does not have the printing plate number nor traffic light! However it seems to be a common printing as the sheets in Ipoh are the same. So those hoping to strike a big hit….look for the sheet with printing plate number and traffic light……if this exist.

Finally here are my bouquets from the north!

20160321 Ipoh Taman Ipoh Kuala Kangsar Garden Flowers

20160321 Ipoh Taman Ipoh Kuala Kangsar Garden Flowers MS

By the way, SODA members are supposed to get Kuala Kangsar cancellation. I think that is a good move by Pos Malaysia.

Updated 28 March 2016:

Apparently there is a red dot on the 40 sen stamp on Row 3 Column 4 (refer to where the pen is pointed).

?

There are also various minor perforations shifts (up and down). I have a few minor shifts on various values. One of them was used on the FDC!
